ABOUT
Close your eyes and imagine to dive in a heavenly place, caressed by the fragrance of coconuts, surrounded by the strong tones of tropical woods and mesmerized by the vanilla orchids scent. Imagine to wake up in a dream of fragrant plumerias, smoked tropical woods, spicy peppermints, tobacco leaves, juicy limes and orange blossoms.
Now open your eyes,
Welcome to Coqui Coqui.
Coqui Coqui was born by the charm of the Yucatan Peninsula, its tropical aromas inspired the creation of a place to enhance and preserve this magic: the Coqui Coqui Perfumery. A passion for history and local traditions, influenced by the nearby Valladolid Franciscan convent, and the friars simple way of living, and skillful craftsmanship, inspired the creation of fragrances and colognes and the fascination
of the surroundings led to the idea of creating a more complete experience, to celebrate and cherish the beauty of a luxuriant nature, and the stately colonial architecture of Yucatan. This is how the Coqui Coqui Residences and Spas were born: places deeply rooted in the tradition, with outstretched branches toward the future. In the years Coqui Coqui has become an harmonic path extending from seven colour seas, white sand beaches and coconut forests in Tulum, to the transparent turquoise cenotes, ancient fruit trees and colourful colonial facades in Valladolid. From the wild lush vegetation, the deep green lagoon and the stunning Archeological Mayan Site in Coba to the elegant and metropolitan streets of Merida.
Coqui Coqui was born from the charm of the Yucatan Peninsula, and has become part of it.

LA PERFUMERIA
Legend says, that during the colonization of the new world, the Franciscan monks, while entrusted by the Queen of Spain, picked flowers, woods and exotic herbs together with the Mayan natives in the remote land of the Yucatan Peninsula.
So many species were found, that the monks, little by little, began to create a large botanical catalogue, giving rise to the most original eau de cologne, emulsions and lotion formulas, as well as introducing perfumes mixed with essential oils, using native flora from the Yucatan Peninsula.
For almost 300 years, these prized products perfumed the Great Spanish Empire, while entire generations were delighted by such distinguished essences. Later, the Caste War in the Mexican territory, made the charming art of mixing fragrances and creating perfumes lost.
Nicolas Malleville, a contemporary landscape architect and perfumer, was inspired since the 500 years of the exotic flora and scents of the Yucatan Peninsula in the libraries of Kew Gardens in England, Le Jardin de Bagatelle in Paris and Hanbury Gardens in Italy.
Captivated by the stories of these lands, Nicolas decided to embark on a trip to Yucatan with a clear objective in mind: recover the monks’ old formulas and fuse them together with the legacy of ancient Mayan medicine.
Several years were dedicated to research before the perfumer achieved his goal. Since then, Nicolas founded Coqui Coqui Perfumes, a small lab in the mystical and colonial town of Valladolid, one of the first colonial towns in the Americas.
